Guiding children and youth to the Lord while keeping them active in church is essential for Faith Formation. We are offering virtually interactive activities for different age groups.
Interactive Children’s Messages
Children in elementary school can join our biweekly interactive Children’s Message (ICM). This is perfect if you and your family are more comfortable with worshipping online instead of in person (though in person worship is now available). In this activity, parents log a child onto the Zoom meeting to interact with Minister Darrell during the Children’s Message portion of the morning worship service. Our next ICM will be Sunday March 7, Sunday March 21 and Sunday April 4. Child participation does not start until the Children’s Message which follows right after the Gospel reading from Pr. Nik. Click on the above links to sign up and contact Minister Darrell with questions.
Catechism
Students in Middle School up to 9th grade will have the opportunity to make meaning of their faith and virtually interact with other Christian peers in our Catechism program. This year, Catechism will include discussions, virtual activities, and service projects. These meetings are bi-weekly and are held on Zoom at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays. The next session will be Sunday February 28.
First Communion Classes
Many of our children are approaching the age where they will receive Holy Communion for the first time.
Traditionally at Beautiful Savior, this has been for children in the 3rd Grade, but we aren’t limited to that age group. Due to the pandemic causing delays for some children last year as well as other children who feel ready to take this next step in faith at a different age, we want to make sure these children are offered lessons that will deepen their understanding and meaning of this important part of our faith.
If you have someone in your family who is at the point of receiving Holy Communion for the first time, we are beginning to plan for preparation classes. If any adults want a refresher course, they are welcome too.
