Acts 28:1-6 - Maltese Hospitality?
Bizarre Bible Stories
The Bible says what!? Yes, there are some pretty bizarre stories in the Bible. Whether it’s the story about Paul preaching so long that someone fell asleep and then literally fell from a three-story window to his death, or the story about one of God’s prophets who preached without clothing, these are some stories that we don’t teach children in Sunday School. Quite frankly, many adults have never heard these stories either. However, these events were recorded in the Bible for a reason. The point of our summer sermon series, Bizarre Bible Stories, is to dig into these stories and find the meaning behind them. Beautiful Savior’s goal is that, through this sermon series, you will enjoy a lot of the humor found in the Bible, some of which is hidden and some of which is not so hidden, but all of which gives us lessons for living today.
This Week
We are looking into Acts 28:1-6. It describes when Paul and other travel companions were stranded on the shores of Malta after a shipwreck. While there, the Maltese inhabitants showed incredible hospitality to Paul and the others. They had welcoming and open hearts. This Brief Bible Dive discusses how the Holy Spirit is often at work preparing people to hear the good news of Jesus Christ long before someone ever mentions his name to them.
