Jesus encountered two of his followers on the road to Emmaus, a village about seven miles from Jerusalem. He walked and talked with them, gifting them with a greater understanding of the Scriptures. Still, they did not recognize that it was Jesus until they invited him into their home and broke bread with him. Upon reflection, they realized that their hearts burned within themselves as he spoke to them. When have we encountered Jesus, not known it at the time, but looking back realized that our hearts burned with zeal when it was happening?”
